Terms of Service
The short version: play fair, don't dare anyone into something dangerous or cruel, and understand that you do every dare at your own risk.
Last updated: 12 August 2026
Before you publish this: a working draft, not legal advice. Fill in the bracketed placeholders and have a lawyer review it — the liability, arbitration, and prize/stakes sections in particular, since real-money pots between users carry their own rules depending on where your users live.
Accepting these terms
By using dare:daily you agree to these terms. If you don't, don't use the app. dare:daily is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we", "us").
Who can use it
You must be at least [17] and able to enter a contract where you live. One account per person. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your login to yourself.
Beta software
dare:daily is in beta. Features will change or disappear, data may be reset, and things will break. We provide the app as-is during beta, without a promise of uptime or data preservation.
Doing dares is on you
This is the important part. Dares are written by other users, not by us. You decide whether to attempt any dare, and you do so entirely at your own risk. Use a reroll, skip the day, or leave the league — accepting a point penalty is always an option, and no score is worth getting hurt or arrested over.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for injury, loss, damage, or legal consequence arising from a dare you attempted or one you wrote for someone else.
What you may not write or post
Do not write a dare, or post proof, that involves:
- Anything illegal — theft, trespassing, vandalism, drugs, drink-driving, or harassment.
- Physical risk of real harm to anyone, including you: heights, traffic, water, fire, weapons, fighting, or dangerous stunts.
- Anything sexual, or any nudity — yours or anyone else's.
- Targeting a specific person for humiliation, bullying, or intimidation, or bringing an unwilling bystander into a dare.
- Hate directed at people for who they are, or content that degrades a protected group.
- Self-harm, disordered eating, or substance abuse in any form.
- Anyone under 18, in any sexual or exploitative context whatsoever.
- Filming someone who hasn't agreed to be filmed, where they'd expect privacy.
We filter obvious violations automatically and review anything reported. We can remove content, pull dares from a pool, or terminate an account without notice. Serious cases get reported to law enforcement.
Your content
You keep ownership of the dares and media you create. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display that content for the purpose of operating dare:daily, at whatever visibility level you chose. Public posts may also be shown in the app's public wall. This licence ends when you delete the content, other than copies already retained in league history or backups.
You confirm you have the right to post what you post, including permission from anyone recognisable in it.
League play, punishments and stakes
Leagues set their own punishments and stakes, and those agreements are between league members — not with us. We don't hold, transfer, judge, or enforce any pot, wager, bet, or punishment. If your league plays for money, that's your arrangement and your responsibility, including whether it's legal where you live. Punishments must still comply with the content rules above: nothing dangerous, sexual, degrading, or illegal, and nothing anyone didn't agree to before the season started.
Fair play
Don't fake proof, don't manipulate the draw, don't use multiple accounts, don't vote-brigade someone's proof, and don't scrape or reverse-engineer the app. We may adjust or void scores obtained by cheating.
Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like. We can suspend or terminate access for breaking these terms, or stop operating the service entirely, with notice where practical.
Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to [the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months or USD 50], and we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, in which case they apply as far as the law permits.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / COUNTRY], and disputes go to the courts of [VENUE], unless local consumer law gives you a different right. [Add an arbitration or class-action-waiver clause here only after legal review.]
Changes
We'll post updates here and change the date at the top. Material changes get an email.
